More for Mothers

So, you've already seen the felt stationary wrap, and the super-cute tote, but there were a few other handmade goodies made for Mothers Day last weekend:  This is the tote I made from Joelle's book, which I really enjoyed sewing.  It was a nice size and came together pretty well.  I am in love with the beautiful linen/cotton from Leslie  that I used on the top.  Inside I had a more lightweight pink and white check lining, so I decided that I'd interface it with some thrifted white flannelette sheet which gave the bag a really lovely soft feel, and made it a little less flimsy.  I like my bags sturdy.   This cute tote was sent to keep Audrey company on the trip up North.

Otherwise, all seemed to come out fine, except the one thing I always struggle with - and that is getting the lining to fit the exterior perfectly.  I try to be careful with my cutting and seams, but I am always out just a little.  Highly annoying I can tell you.  I will get it one day!

And here's a little heat pack I made for Grandma.  Again, lovely soft Japanese Corduroy I had leftover from Ellie's quilt top.  I couldn't find any whole wheat kernel at last minute.  I instead used cracked wheat - does anyone know if that is safe/will work just as well?  And of course, those last minute gift cards got a workout.
