Yep, Meet me at Mikes is still going strong. This is my latest attempt from the book, made for a friend's birthday this week. I'm giving it to her tonight and I really really hope she likes it. The anticipation is killing me - I am such a terrible people pleaser that it will be the end of me, I am sure of it.
In this project I used a lovely Japanese brown cotton for the flap top and wrist band, some vintage cotton for the interior and lovely natural linen exterior. I chose to interface with a heavyweight iron-on interfacing, even though the pattern called for medium-weight. It seemed to work out fine. Looking back, there are a few small things I'd consider doing differently next time, but overall, I was pleased with the result.
I'm really sad that Leslie's store is gone. She was my favourite Japanese fabric seller on etsy. And so nice too! But all good things come to an end, and if you are looking for similar products, then try these lovely stores:
Just lovely...another one that is on my to do list. I bet your friend LOVES it.
