70's trench found at Persephone Vintage. Love it. It's like something out of one of your favourite 70's films.

My creative space.
As promised, this is what I got up to with those fabrics.
A butterfly party outfit for one 2 year old birthday girl.
An applique design on front, and a little pair of tulle wings on back. The kind of wings you can't rip off easily (unlike the sweet blue and purple antler headband that was supposed to accompany it). This project was a real scrap buster and a great way to use up some of those old fabrics that meant a lot. I'll think about trying to make a tutorial for this if anyone's interested?
This project wasn't hard at all, and I was pleased with the outcome. As you can see, the birthday girl was happy too! And no, I didn't make the skirt. I couldn't go past a $10 bargain on this purple tulle skirt about a week out from the party. Just too much to get done if I hadn't snapped it up when I did.
Finally, these are just some of our butterfly decorations. They were inspired by this post and were a great way for the birthday girl to be involved in the handmade preparations. Needless to say we are now completely surrounded by these things stuck all over the house!
Enjoy everyone else's creatives spaces over at Kootoyoo :) and my absolute favourite one right here (I'm so excited about this one I can't wait!)

Henrietta and her chicks
Well, Sunday's party came off well, without too much stress on my part. I was a little tense getting the cake done, but we got there in the end and Miss 2 had a fabulous time being the centre of attention!
I wanted to introduce you to some of our newest family members...
Meet Henrietta and her baby chicks! Isn't she awesome? They are handmade by a very clever Aunty Yana for the birthday girl and are already much loved. I think Henrietta's little family is a Melly & Me pattern, and I absolutely love the fabric combos Yana has selected. You can see what fabulous creation we scored this time last year here.

Lavender
I love lavender. Call me old fashioned, I don't care. It reminds me of an English garden in a lovely Jane Austen book. Yesterday Mum came over to babysit and delivered me this gorgeous small posie from her garden. So lovely, and will match perfectly with tomorrow's blue and purple party!

The sweetest cupcake liners
I'm so pinching this idea. How amazingly cute and all with a paper doily!
See how to do it here.

My creative space.
A stack of fabrics.
This mauve tulle was used by my Mum to make an outfit for me about 25 years ago.
The purplish floral fabric was used to make my Grade 6 farewell dress by my Grandmother around the same time. She's now in a Nursing home with dementia.
The polka dot print is brand new, and I thought it was sweet.
The vintage sheet is opped and has already lived many good years.
These fabrics new and old are going to be put to use again for my sweet one's 2nd birthday.
Can you see what they'll become?

Free stuff I love: Applique
I'm thinking about doing a little applique this week for a certain little person who is turning 2 and celebrating with our families on Sunday. So for your sake and mine, here are some of my favourite applique ideas and how-to's around...
A super effective felt applique tutorial from pigeon pair
Such a simple but cute idea from crafterhours. I love it.
Some cute little fringed and appliqued table napkins at the purl bee
Refresh or learn the basics of machine applique with this table runner at design*sponge
That's all folks, I'm off to select fabrics! I'll be sure to show you when I'm done.

Love this vintage...
Fruit box from trampoline on etsy. I adore old boxes and storage containers, and this would be such a great little place to start Ellie growing her very own little box of vegetables. I can see some cherry tomatoes making a very happy home in here. Spring is on it's way in our neck of the woods and I'm thinking about the garden again....Nearly time to plant some seedlings I think!

My creative space.
Late again. Oh well.
Somehow, amidst everything we've encountered this week (read conjunctivitis, respiratory viruses, interstate travel, fevers and gastro thrown together) we managed to get some pretty little packages done. Phew.
Yep, we folded every box and lid and got them ready for a special event tomorrow. I am writing "we" because I had a lot of help from the Mr, who has always had hidden crafting skills if you ask me.

Love this vintage...
Image of a woman stitching. She looks serene, and I'd like to be her right now. Found here.
Sorry I'm playing catchup on the blog at the moment. We're sick again, a bit grumpy and tired from another week of infection. Hopefully you're all doing OK though? I hope so! :)

Wish Dream Charm Sip
Thanks to Kiki Bowns for including me in another treasury! I am flattered. Nicolle has included my coin purse with vintage lace.
Thanks again Nicolle! I love the colour in this treasury. You can see all the items better here.
Ps. this is the last coin purse with lace left in stock - two gone and only one left and ready to be snatched up!

I'm one very lucky girl.
I'm in love. A birthday gift from all of my family and husband. Little did I know that yesterday my Mr picked her up, carried her home on the train and walked 20 minutes home in the rain last night. Do you know how heavy these are?
He's a keeper that one, and I think some gratitude baking is in order. Yes, most definitely.

Drawing.
We've been doing lots of drawing around here lately. In the colouring books, on the concrete, on random bits of paper, in Mummy's diary at the cafe, on the walls (hmmm), and in the bathtub.
We also made a more permanent home for the colouring pencils after being inspired by this fantastic idea repurposing milk cartons. Much quicker than sewing up a fabric roll to match the crayons, but eventually we might do that too.
I hope you're weekend has been creative and enjoyable too!
