My creative space...

We're on holidays this week, relaxing by the beach and trying to get healthy after a bout of a seasonal change virus. I've got an ear infection, and now have a temporary hearing impairment on one side, so we are still taking it easy and resting up. I had hoped to get the shop update done last weekend, but it just didn't happen with all the sickness, lack of sleep and toddler clingyness. Every time I sat down at the machine I had a little person crying at my knees...sigh. But never mind, we're on the mend, so shop update still coming!

Here are a few images of a bag I recently completed for my Mum a few weeks back. I used the Ava bag pattern from Grand Revival and found it pretty good. I'm not convinced about the fabric I chose, but I'm yet to see what Mum thinks.  She likes a nice subtle print as well as versatility so I hope it works for her.

Enjoy your Thursday folks, and of course enjoy more creativity over here.

Free Stuff I love.....Cupcake recipes!

OK.  I have to give my little brother credit for finding this one.  How good do these cupcakes look?   Yep, incredible.  AND the recipes are right here at Ming Makes Cupcakes, so why not give 'em a go?  And while you're at it, try the cookies and the savouries too.........Yum,  I'm such a sucker for lemon meringue.

A quiet one.

Today is ANZAC day and it's a quiet one for us.  We've been up since 3am with an asthmatic teether so we're just taking it easy watching ABC2, sleeping when we can and a doing little sewing for the shop.  It goes without saying that it'll be an early night tonight.
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend and sleeping well!

A pretty bowl.

I'm loving this crochet rubber bowl from this pretty shop.

And yes, I am biased, and posted this shop for name alone.

It's an advantage that it sells such lovely things.

My creative space.

Here is a little girl who did not want to pose for a photo.
And here is the shirt I asked her to pose in.

I've been itching to give the 90 minute shirt a go since I saw the tutorial posted over at Dana's blog during February, and I am very pleased with the result.  What a great and easy tutorial!  This shirt was a pilot to check my pattern draft and uses thrifted materials from the op shop.

The first time through, this shirt will take you longer than 90 minutes, but after you've made up your pattern, and have fabric ready to go, I really do believe it is an hour and a half job.  I don't have an overlocker/serger, so left my edges raw.  Wouldn't this style be cute as a pair of PJ's with some flannel pants?  Hmmm.  Maybe I will do just that.

If you're wondering, I relieved her of her misery after 3 photos.

See some other great creative spaces right here.

We're back

We're back after a very short (but very sweet) break last week at the beach.  It was soooo nice to catch up with family and take a day off work.

And boy does this kid love the water.  I had to physically restrain her from diving in with her tracksuit on one chilly afternoon.

I hope your week was lovely too!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope it's been wonderful. We've had a great day celebrating with friends, enjoying great food and even better company.   I'm so thankful for all of these people in my life, and even more thankful for God's grace, which I'm especially reminded of this weekend.

This week in preparation for today, Ellie and I made these little Easter Cards:

First we made up a couple of pages of very pretty (and fun to make!) Ellie artwork and let them dry overnight.

We got together some scissors, precut card stock, glue and paper doilies.

Then we glued the doilies to the paper, and cut out (mummy job!) some easter egg shapes.  A little more glue and Voila!  Our Easter cards were done.   Really, you could make any sort of shape with this quick method.  Hearts, stars, letters, flowers, any shape at all.

Out they went today to our lovely friends.

We hope they liked them, and we also wish you all a HAPPY EASTER in whichever way you spend it!

Just hatched.

I finally decided what to make Ellie for Easter.  Although not on my short list, I used this tutorial and spent yesterday afternoon whipping up these cute little friends.

Unfortunately, I think these little guys were supposed to be bigger and I should have sized up the pattern because they were mega tiny to sew.  They're made using natural linen and vintage cottons, and the little pouches include a red felt heart, which I might perhaps swap for a mini Easter egg.  I hope she likes it because you never can tell these days (although anything small, soft and with a beak and hair is usually a winner).

Have you made anything for your Easter Celebrations?  Do show us and post your link at Kirsty's, we'd love a peek!
